Bob be seymour death notices

The family is in my prayers. Brian Henry. Yesterday I learned of the passing of Bobbe Seymore. More So, Bobbe was a teacher and influence to other pedal steel players. He opened Steel Guitar Nashville in his later years and published many books teaching young people the ART of steel guitar. He came to us from upstate New York from a very huge musical family and his uncle was a traveling steel guitarist.

He was fascinated by those stories. He joined the Air force and was stationed in Texas and when he was off duty his steel guitar talents were boasted about and he played gigs with local bands. He moved to Nashville and after only two days here he began to play with Ferlin Husky and Jean Shepard who at the time was under his parental rights being a minor so she could tour.

And when they parted ways Ray began his own backup band the Cherokee Cowboys of which Bobbe was an original part of. He eventually gave up the road in favor of playing on hit records and became one of Nashville most sought after session people. Both for his skill AND his ethics and good business behavior. For many years he played many master sessions weekly and kept a fast pace.

At the beginning of he developed Spinal Stenosis which took away his ability to walk and play steel guitar. But he still instructed people on how to play. He passed away Wednesday evening in his home in Tennessee. I loved you Bobbe and thank you for all your stories at the store. I have not heard of any services as of this time. Bobby D.

I must say that Bobbe was an inspiration in most all I have done the past 12 or 13 years. In as much as learning to play steel and dealing in steel guitars and related equipment. His advice was invaluable and totally unselfish. Not to mention the great talent and knowledge he posessed. I will truly miss Bobbe Seymour Bobby Reed. Michael Johnstone From: Sylmar,Ca.

Knew him well.

Been in his shop lotsa times. We go back to the 60s. Bobbe hadn't been in the best of health for 2 or 3 years, but nevertheless the news has still come as a shock as I understood that his health was improving. My condolences go out to his family and those who were closest to him. For those people who knew him, Bobbe was a very self opinionated and ebullient person, but lovable with it.

He performed at the Irish steel show a few short years ago. I don't think that Bobbe was the same man since he had an argument with a table saw and came off worst. I loved it when he told me that he wrapped his heavily bleeding hand in a towel and drove to the hospital. He showed his hand to the woman on reception, who nearly fainted, and she said "Oh my God, you've lost some of your fingers!

Funny now, but must have been traumatic for him at the time. He never played too well after that accident, and also had to deal with extreme diabetes, heart problems and cancer. Thanks for letting us know Ken. If any of our people haven't watched his videos they should search them out for some really valuable and free stuff. Next oldest topic :: Next newest topic.

My friend and boss, I'm sorry to say, passed away peacefully last night at home. Not only was Bobbe a great boss, but a good friend for many years. I will miss him tremendously. He was a well respected musician and taught me everything I know about repairing a steel guitar. Unfortunately, another huge loss to the steel guitar community. It's hard to express my true emotions right now.

Bobbe gave me my first job after moving to Nashville in He could be a very humorous person, but the next minute, a complete jerk! But all in all, Bobbe had a great heart. Bobbe's accomplishments speak for themselves. His passion for life, steel guitars and classic cars, I will always remember. I felt like you all should know that Bobbe is gone.

The store will be closed at least Monday through Wednesday of next week, out of respect for Bobbe. Please try to limit phone calls to the store. I will be updating information as I receive it. We would like to thank all of Bobbe's customers for supporting Steel Guitar Nashville and we hope to continue and grow the same standards that Bobbe expected of us, for years to come.

So rip, my friend. Condolences and prayers to you family. Warmest regards I am so shocked to read this about Bobbe. I knew he had been ill but never realized he was in such a bad condition. I will misss the friendly smile and the hugs he would give steel players. Another great one has passed on and left us hurting. May God comfort all the family and friends during this most difficult time.

It's a sad day. I had hoped to get to Hendersonville for a visit this spring, but it's too late now. I was always so proud of all Bobbe did all these years! Thanks for all your prayers!
